Devolver Digital is an American video game publisher and film distributor. The company was formerly known as GHI Media, LLC.

History

The company was founded on June 25th, 2009 in time with the release of their first published game, Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter. The company's expansion into film distribution was announced in 2013. Devolver Digital's movie division was established to support independent movie makers, as stated by its CEO.

Devolver Digital is known primarily for working with independent game creators like Dennaton Games, Croteam, and Roll7. There is no particular interest in other aspects of the games published.

Major popularity came to Devolver Digital with the release of Hotline Miami, after which the company received many contract offers from indie developers.

Devolver Digital is often referenced as the craziest publisher, because of their E3 showcases and the style of games published as seen in Ruiner, Hotline Miami, and My Friend Pedro.
