Aspyr

Aspyr Media is an American-based video game publisher and developer.

History

The company was found in 1996. Since its inception, the company collaborated with Universal, Paramount, Warner Bros., LucasArts, EA, and Activision on porting their games for other platforms, mainly Mac OS X.

Since 2014, Aspyr was the major contractor of Activision responsible for porting Call of Duty games on Mac OS X.

Apart from porting games on Mac and Linux, the company is also responsible for the production and distribution of several music albums and documental films.

Operations

Aspyr Media has no original property in favor of focusing on its porting efforts. The company ported The Sims titles, Deus Ex, Doom 3, Quake 4, and Tomb Raider titles on Mac OS X.

After 2015, the company also took an interest in porting Game Boy Advance games for Windows, Mac, and Xbox.

Aspyr is also present on the mobile gaming market since 2014 with a port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Android and Civilization VI for iOS.
